At the tournament Russia was presented by 4 junior teams consisting of 12 people under 15,5 years from Kazan, Moscow, Smolensk and Ekaterinburg. The varsity team was formed at the Summer Training Boot Camp, organized by the Central Subject-Oriented Teaching Commission in cooperation with Innopolis University and Innopolis Lyceum.

During 2 days participants were to complete 6 tasks on Java and C++. Each task was estimated from 0 to 100 scores. In total, Russian participants received 5 gold and 3 silver medals. The members of the national team, who won medals, got the maximum 100 scores for each task.

According to Olga Kornienko, Head of Office of Subject-Oriented Olympiads at Innopolis University: “Innopolis University works with talented schoolchildren and encourages their interest to programming. Together with Central Subject-Oriented Teaching Commission and Innopolis Lyceum we have implemented a junior project focused on the development of computer skills of pupils of 7-8 forms. In summer we have organized a Training Boot Camp with 33 schoolchildren involved and trained by teachers holding medals from international olympiads. Also, during this year we have organized training sessions and helped participants to solve Olympiad tasks”.

Olga Kornienko, representative of Innopolis University, noticed that involvement in international competitions is important for the overall development of a team. “We are sure that the motivation the participants got at the Olympiad will speed up development of the team”.
