Robots in search and rescue operations
Professor Evgeni Magid talked about robotic applications in search and rescue operations and shared his opinion about the current trends in this field. He emphasized that such robots allow saving human lives and avoiding unnecessary risks during search and rescuing operations. In addition, the same technologies could be applied to operate the robots on other planets and asteroids, in nuclear reactors, in high pressure or chemically contaminated environments. This way a robot could successfully replace a human in 3D – dangerous, dirty, demanding – tasks.
