Industry representatives, Master’s degree students and postgraduate students of Russian and foreign universities took part in the event.

Organizers of the event focused on the establishment of a unique platform for discussion on issues related to software production. Mohamad Kassab, professor of Innopolis University, Director of the event, claimed: “Without any doubt, the School will become a discussion platform for analysis and deep understanding of software fundamentals and aspects”.

It is essential for modern experts in Information Technology to have a permanent connection with the outer world and keep up with current industry trends. It is vital just because of inevitable technology changes and floating requirements to developers on the labor market.

Thus, organizers of the School made all efforts to enrich the program with the material that will help students to acquire the best technical knowledge in Software Engineering, in particular: deeper understanding of the mobile development procedure, in-depth review of the interaction between the requirements elicitation and some major paradigms of programming languages. Seminars and workshops were focused on the mobile and distributed data mining, development of online web games  and Android architecture.

The School addressed the following major topics:

·      Detail-focused coding in terms of mobile development requirements. Specific use of the Dalvik virtual machine structure when developing mobile applications for Android

·      Further management of data being distributed across the network

·      Combination of mentioned aspects in a certain functional area of mobile apps, in particular, video games (game development for mobile and web applications)

·      Elicitation of requirements to mobile development across the world considering limitations on requirements elicitation on the web

Acquired knowledge will help developers to enhance coding and improve program length in order to create more effective apps.

One of the most exciting speeches was delivered by Cuno Tarfusser, an Italian lawyer and Second Vice-President of the International Criminal Court, whose scope of interests includes legal issues related to software development. The invited speaker gave a lecture on how the International Criminal Court has established itself in the international community and how the international criminal law affects the relationship among countries, with a view also to corporate industrial relations in the IT sector.

“The School on Software Engineering at Innopolis University is a perfect opportunity to push the boundaries of your expertise in Software Engineering. During five days of intensive training, we have learned programming tips in Java for Android and Game Design. Besides the lectures we had tutorials where we performed different creative tasks in small groups and presented results”, - said Vasily Mosin, one of the event participants, Master’s degree student of Higher School of Economics. He mentioned specific value of lectures on Spatial Web correlating with the material he studies in the Data Science course at his home university. “Meanwhile, lectures on Requirements by Mohamad Kassab were my favourite ones. He described modern methods of requirements elicitation and formulation for software development projects. These tasks will inevitably help me to boost my professional activity”, - he summed up.

Maxim Blumental, Android-developer at Sberbank-Technology, one of the School participants, mentioned enthusiastic and clear presentation manner of speakers. “Along with other benefits, the School helped me to choose the area of further studies. What is more, I had a good time with developers from different companies, cities and countries. Hopefully, I will have a chance to attend other similar events in Innopolis”, - shared his impressions Blumental.

”We were glad to host participants who showed great interest throughout the intense week of the School with excellent learning results.”, - noticed Giancarlo Succi, Head of the Institute of Information Systems and Head of the Industrial Production of Software Lab at Innopolis University.

“Without any doubt we can say that this event gave the participants an opportunity to enrich their minds - this is also confirmed by the enthusiastic comments left in the evaluation reports and by the fact that the majority of them considers continuing education at Innopolis University. Needless to say, the lecturers encouraged, motivated, and excited the students”, - claimed Giancarlo Succi, one of the world’s leading experts in the empiric analysis of Software Engineering.
