Innopolis University presented 18 sets of awards to the winners of the competition, who will join the Russian national team and take part in the World Robot Olympiad in New Delhi. 

Based on the results of regional selections that involved 10,000 young robotic technicians from all parts of Russia, over 577 participants from 51 region have come to the national finals of WRO that took place in Innopolis on June 25-26.

The Olympiad was devoted to waste reducing, management and recycling. Organizers of the competition are sure that robotic systems will help to preserve the environment for future generations.

Innopolis University hosts the Russian Robot Olympiad for the third time. Year by year, participants get ready for the competition more carefully. In 2014 Russia has developed a set of complex rules for the Robot Olympiad on the topic "Robots and Space", and each country  hosting the international stage of the competition afterwards kept the bar high. Innopolis University has been carefully monitoring the achievements of young robotic technicians. Winners and award holders of the Olympiad will not only represent Russia at the competition held in the capital of India, but also receive grants covering costs of education in the Bachelor degree programs of Innopolis University for school graduates and in the Master’s degree program for current students” , - noticed Alexander Tormasov, Rector of Innopolis University.


Participants of the Olympiad have competed for 18 sets of medals, including 3 additional nominations for bright ideas. The main contest flared up for medals in 10 categories.


The winners and award holders of the Olympiad are  young people from Rostov Oblast, Krasnodar Region, St. Petersburg, Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, Ulyanovsk Oblast, Kurgan Oblast, Moscow, Tyumen Oblast, Republic of Tatarstan, Krasnoyarsk Region, Sverdlovsk Oblast, Primorsky Krai, Samara Oblast, Republic of Komi, Tyumen, Chelyabinsk, Perm, Tambov Oblast, Chuvash Republic, Kaliningrad Oblast, Tomsk Oblast, Moscow Oblast and Udmurt Republic. According to the competition results, the best participants will form the Russian national team that will represent the country at the WRO finals in India.


During his visit at the Olympiad Nikolay Nikiforov, Minister of Telecom and Mass Communication of the Russian Federation, mentioned that Russia is going to apply for hosting the finals of the World Robot Olympiad (WRO) in 2018. "Our colleagues from Innopolis University have agreed to organize the event. It is a serious international movement that involves over a hundred of countries. We believe that it plays a key role in promotion of engineering professions and programming among the young generation", - said the Minister to journalists.
