On June 24-26 Innopolis University will host the finals of the Russian Robot Olympiad devoted to fighting waste.

The topic of the WRO 2016 national selection stage is "Rap the Scrap". The purpose is to induce robotic enthusiasts to think about problems of environmental pollution by industrial and household waste.

To get to Innopolis for competing with the best, 8 000 participants from all over Russia designed, constructed and programmed robots, which will help people to reduce the amount of garbage and to properly organize its recycling.

Following the selections results, 1 500 people from 47 regions of the Russian Federation including participants, team coaches and parents will arrive at Innopolis University.

"Innopolis University hosts  the Russian Robot Olympiad since 2014. We are glad to welcome talented boys and girls who are fond of programming of intellectual robotic systems once again. They have passed difficult selection and come to us from 40 regions of the Russian Federation. These children are the future intellectual power of our country, and they will have to solve global problems related to ecology and health care. We urge our partners to support the right intentions of the gifted youth", - commented Alexander Tormasov, rector of Innopolis University.

The main difference of this year’s competitions is that students of schools, colleges and higher education institutions participate in selection for one of the three international contests in robotics.

The 13th World Robot Olympiad will take place in Delhi, India, the competition will be held in 4 categories:

WRO Robotraffiс is the second selection event the winners of which will be recommended for participation in the prestigious international competition. Autonomous robotic vehicles have to move on a track simulating real-life traffic conditions.

Water Category is a new competition of the Russian Robot Olympiad. The challenge is to build a robot able to complete a number of specific tasks under water in a fully autonomous mode.

The unique competitions: "Free category" and "Open category" on the topic "The Internet of Things: Health Care" will take place at Innopolis University in the framework of the Russian Robot Olympiad. In August the best teams of the Russian Federation will be invited to Innopolis University for preparatory training, the Russian national team will be formed based on its results. This team will represent our country in the WRO 2016 finals in the capital of India.
