Ales Zhivkovic talked about modern tendencies in the industry and education in the area of software engineering management at Innopolis University.

The meeting “Business and Education: future technologies” arranged by the Realnoe Vremya online media, gathered heads of training companies, universities, schools of foreign language and companies promoting studies abroad for a round-table discussion.  Tutors and business trainers agreed that despite the crisis, there is no decline in the segment of training and educational services. The experts noticed that on this stage modification of clients' tasks and the demand correction are on the agenda.

Heated discussion among the forum participants covered the new course of the national policy on imports phase-out, thus provoking a burning issue of personnel training in the field of Information Technology. Ales Zhivkovic, Director of MSIT-SE, Innopolis University, pointed out that the adapted model of IT education is very different from the traditional one that currently exists in Russia. However, the program corresponds to modern trends in the supplementary education, that impose shortened training period (the program duration is 1 calendar year), more practical orientation and measurable education results.

“Students admitted to the MSIT-SE program are already in the industry, they have a relevant IT industry background and they are more than satisfied with the knowledge they get at Innopolis University. The aim of the program is to transform our students from software engineers into team leaders, chief software architects and project managers”, - said Ales Zhivkovic.

What is more, aside from practical experience in the IT industry, Master's degree students of the University clearly understand the challenges and tasks that programmers encounter in the course of project delivery. That is why academic disciplines of the MSIT-SE program are aimed at the development of certain skills, that MSIT-SE graduates can use in the everyday practice.

During the first semester students gain theoretical knowledge. In the second and third academic semesters they combine studies with a practical work on a real-life project suggested by IT companies, which results are to be integrated into a product that the client-company will deliver to the market.

“This program is absolutely new for the Russian educational environment, that is why we keep explaining differences, advantages and value of its graduates to companies. In particular, we pay special attention to the future workplace and capacity of our graduates”, - noticed Ales Zhivkovich, Director of MSIT-SE, Innopolis University.
