Experts have chosen projects within the Open Category, their authors will join participants of the Olympiad that have already been selected for international competitions.

In August, Innopolis University hosted the federal training boot camp where the jury selected young robotic technicians who will represent Russia at the World Robot Olympiad in India this November. In one of the previous articles we told about the lucky enthusiasts who will go to New Delhi to take part in the Regular Category and WRO Football. Participants of the Open Category have recently joined them. After selections they had a month to finish projects and had been waiting for decision of the jury.

Four out of 14 presented projects reached the final stage of the competition. So, the Russian national team included 3 teams from Saint Petersburg presenting the following projects: Clean Arctic, a system for collecting garbage in the Arctic Ocean; Garbage Collector, a system for cleaning the ocean surface and bottom; RoboHand, a device for processing radioactive wastes without direct human interference; a team from Moscow with the Clean City project i.e. an environment-friendly and cost-efficient garbage recycling system. Each project corresponds to the main theme of the Olympiad this year Wrap the Scrap.

The Russian national team consists of 15 teams from 13 regions with 30 participants. Some members of the Russian national team won prizes at the previous world competitions. At the WRO 2015 held in Qatar robotic technicians from Saint Petersburg Georgy KrylovEvgeny Maksimychev, and Nikita Safronov took the second position in the Student Category.

The World Robotic Olympiad will take place on November 25-27.
