Innopolis University is to host the Russian stage of the World Robot Olympiad (WRO)

The Olympiad will be one of the key events in the opening of the new Russian university. 

On June 9, 2015, Innopolis University will host several federal scale events in IT and robotics. Innopolis University is to conduct the Russian stage of the WRO on June 8-11. Winners of the Olympiad will represent Russia in the 12th World Robot Olympiad in Doha, Qatar. Free accommodation and catering at a new campus of Innopolis University will be provided for all participants of the Russian stage of the WRO. Event website: http://robolymp.ru/

In 2014, 720 schoolchildren and students from 42 Russian regions participated in the Olympiad. This year, the event is expected to gather around 1000 participants from 55 regions of the country.

Dmitry Livanov, Minister of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, Nikolai Nikiforov, Minister of Telecom and Mass Communication of the Russian Federation, Rustam Minnikhanov, President of the Republic of Tatarstan, and other high-ranking officials confirmed their presence at the event.

The Olympiad will include 6 disciplines. Probably, the most exciting among them is Robot-football, where participants are to program robots to score more goals than their opponents.

The World Robot Olympiad (WRO) has been conducted for 11 years. Last year, Russia hosted the WRO in Sochi. Since 2004 more than 20 000 teams from 50 countries participated in the Olympiad. This year, the international final is to take place in Doha, Qatar. Innopolis University trains Russian team for the final event in Doha.

Innopolis University, being the first Russian university with a focus on advanced Computer Science and its applications, is an intellectual driving force for the development of the national IT industry. The University offers unique programs in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Cybersecurity, Data Science, and Robotics. The University is to be the national operator of the WRO for the next 5 years.
