Innopolis University students won in the UMNIK finals

Four projects will receive research grants in the amount of RUB 400,000 

Finals of the “UMNIK” youth research and innovation competition was held in the framework of the 13th National Youth Research and Technology Conference "IDEL-13" in the sphere of natural sciences. The Program of the Foundation for Assistance to Small Innovative Enterprises in Science and Technology provides a two-year financing in the amount of RUB 400,000 to the most promising science and technology projects in the main competition areas: Information Technology, Future Medicine, Modern Materials, Modern Devices, New Appliances and Hardware Complexes and Biotechnology. The aim of the program is to identify and encourage young scholars, willing to fulfill their potential in research and technical sphere.

This time the “UMNIK” finals gathered talented young people at KNIAT Kazan High-Technology Industrial Park. 10 projects were approved to take part in the final competition after the semi-finals held at Innopolis University. According to the competition results, four Innopolis University students received grants for their projects:

· Aleksandr Abugaliev, project “Development of the Video Semantic Indexing System”

· Kirill Bedraty, project “Study of Cognitive Networks in Fuzzy Data Environment”

· Murad Magomedov, project “Development of the Autonomous System for Human Health Monitoring and Emergency reporting to the Rescue Services in case of Critical Indexes”

· Artem Kondukov, project “Development of a Software complex for Computer-Aided Identification of the Lungs and Heart Linear Dimensions and Volume via Measurement of their X-Ray Shadow Pulmonary and Cardiovascular System Diseases Diagnostics”

One of the winners, Kirill Bedraty, a Master's student of Innopolis University told: “The competition impressed us with the opportunity to develop a prototype, work on our ideas and move forward. I`m grateful to the Innopolis University team for support and timely valuable advice. The competition atmosphere itself contributes to generation of new ideas, courage to participate in different contests and faith in achievability of ultimate goalsMy goal was to build a cognitive radio-network based on multiagent system prototype. The project topic came out of my research on the Master’s degree thesis, which I have been working on for the last year and a half.”
