Winners got an opportunity to be enrolled in Russian universities without admission tests.

During the last weekend, finals of the international Open Olympiad on Informatics of Innopolis University took place on two sites at the same time. Representatives of 12 countries and 21 regions of the Russian Federation competed at Innopolis University, Russia, and in Minsk, Republic of Belarus, at the platform provided by STEP Computer Academy. The final stage of the Olympiad gathered students of 7—11 forms who had successfully passed the qualifying round that included 3,374 schoolchildren from 56 countries.

Young people were challenged with classic Olympiad tasks and took part in the entertaining program provided by the organizers. They worked in pairs on a test sitting back to back — one participant had the task and a computer keyboard while the other one had a PC monitor.

Participants of the Olympiad met with faculty members of Innopolis University and got in touch with Gagarin, a robot able to read human emotions, that was developed in the IT university.

Besides, representatives of Yandex, SKB Kontur and EPAM Systems outlined current trends of the IT industry and told young programmers about the marathon, an alternative format of competitions for programmers where participants deal with tasks under close-to-real conditions.

Thus, seven young people became winners of the Olympiad,18 participants gained the second-class prizes and 33 schoolchildren took the third-class prizes. Winners of the Olympiad came from South Korea, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Hungary, Poland, Republic of Belarus and Russia. If they decide to enter a Russian university, their results will be considered equal to the maximum score that can be gained at the Russian Unified State Exam on Informatics.
