The competition was launched by Nikolay Nikiforov, Veniamin Kaganov, Roman Shaykhutdinov and Engel Fattakhov.

Innopolis University inaugurated the final stage of the Russian Robot Olympiad. Nikolay Nikiforov, Minister of Telecom and Mass Communication of the Russian Federation, was the first to speak at the opening ceremony and welcome young robotic enthusiasts. He pointed out that the future of Russia will be created by young people inspired by Robotics and Information Technology. After the speech by N. Nikiforov, the floor was given to Veniamin Kaganov, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, and Roman Shaykhutdinov, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan, Minister of Information and Communication of the Republic of Tatarstan. The honoured guests congratulated on the opening of the Olympiad and wished young people good luck.

Alexander Tormasov, Rector of Innopolis University, encouraged participants and noticed that soon they will have a chance to become students of the University and astonish the world with their developments.

Participants showing the best results at the 2-day competition, will represent Russia at the World Robot Olympiad in New Delhi, India, at the end of November 2016. In addition, winners of the competition will receive grants covering costs of education at Innopolis University.
