From October 12 through 25, a group of 90 children from 15 regions of Russia competed for the right to represent the Russian national team at WRO2014. Competitions took place at the Federal Children’s Center “Smena” in Anapa.

The first team of participants includes winners of the Russian and world stages of WRO. The most experienced specialists were invited to the camp to train the children for the competitions and choose the best from the best. The head coach of the Russian WRO Training Camp is Alexander Kolotov, lead specialist in robotics at Innopolis University, organizer of training camps, chief referee of the Russian stage of the World Robot Olympiad 2014. Alexander has been making rules for national and international stages of the Olympiad for many years, he also works as a referee during national and international stages of the Olympiad.

“All the children are very smart. Team Russia won a number of prizes at the previous World Robot Olympiad, and thanks to this, the WRO2014 will be held in Sochi. It’s very important for the Russian team to perform well in their home country. For two weeks, the participants of the training camp will be doing tasks similar to those at the Olympiad. We also prepared a series of theoretical seminars, during which trainers will tell the children about the main algorithms of solving tasks in robotics, key possibilities in construction, methods of algorithmic debugging,” – says Dmitry Kondratyev, Director of Innopolis University.
