Innopolis University has agreed on cooperation with Brazilian Federal University of Minas Gerais and the Beijing Institute of Technology.

The Russian IT University and the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), the largest federal university of Brazil, made a Cooperation Agreement covering issues of joint research projects, exchange of publications and research results along with academic exchange of students and faculty members.

The campus of the Federal University of Minas Gerais is located in Belo Horizonte, the capital of the state of Minas Gerais. Established in 1927, the university annually provides training for over 40,000 students in 75 areas, in particular: Information Technology, Bioinformatics, Pharmacology, Genetics, and Machine Engineering. Talented graduates of the university are the key point of attraction for industrial companies from all parts of the world. In a search for qualified personnel, they have formed a cluster of high-technology production in Belo Horizonte. Dilmah Rousseff, the current President of Brazil, and the first woman to hold that office, graduated from the Faculty of Economics of the Federal University of Minas Gerais.

In March of this year, the university signed a Student Exchange Agreement with Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT), one of the leading higher education institutions of China. The recently established Beijing Institute of Technology (1940) is now the largest research institution administered by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People's Republic of China. The university is supported by the Chinese government, the Commission of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defence Commission and the Ministry of Education. Laboratories and research centres of the Beijing Institute of Technology have a significantnational status. Besides, the university has a science park of a key national importance.

"The BRICS region is a favourable space to develop international initiatives, including  educational ones. Thanks to established collaboration with Brazilian partners and colleagues from China, Innopolis University expands its cooperation geography. Academic exchange will become the first and a very important step. In addition, we explore the opportunities to launch other educational and research projects", - said Elmira Khalitova, Director for International Cooperation of Innopolis University.
